I utterly enjoyed reading and annotating "Lines Written in Early Spring". I personally like reading poems that rhyme compared to ones that don't. It just makes it more fun and much easier. I loved the question he was asking himself. What HAS Man made of Man?
When I think about the way he was comparing Man to Nature it makes me sad as well. When you really look at Nature, you don't see anger and sadness. There is nothing in Nature that says that. It DOES make me sad to think that we see all that stuff in our world everyday! All of that is known as sin. Nature doesn't sin. Nature does not disobey, lie, and cheat. When you see birds hop and fly, you see an example of beauty and joy which is heaven sent from God. All humans do is rarely any of that! Which only leaves sin, which is What Man has made of Man.
Morgan I could not agree more! I too love reading poems that rhyme compared to ones that dont, it is easier. Its very interesting what you said about nature being joyful and obedient. And it is sad to think about what man has made of man...
ReplyDeleteI like how you really deeply thought about this poem in depth. You really opened my eyes to a different way at looking at this poem. I also love how you realized how he compared man to nature. Again very good insight Morgan! :)
