Book Report vs. Literary Analysis Essay

I think the main difference between a book report and a literary analysis essay lies in what the author of the paper wants to write about.  If the author wants to discuss the story's meaning and purpose, he would decide to write a literary analysis essay.  However, if the author would rather compose a paper on the story's plot, he would write a book report.
As for what I would prefer, I would choose a literary analysis essay.  It is possible that my opinion will change since I have never made a formal literary analysis essay before.  I like the idea of discovering what makes the story special, how the author makes you want to read it again, and how he captures your attention.  I like how a literary analysis essay offers insight on how the writer carefully constructs his story to give you the feeling of experiencing what the characters go through.  After reading chapter five in the Windows to the World book, I can see that writing a literary analysis essay will be a challenge and will require a lot of thought, but I am looking forward to beginning the project.

  1. I think I would prefer a literary analysis, too. Writing one did look like quite the challenge, though.

  2. Awesome Post! Book Report vs Literary Analysis Essay. Maybe i will focused in literary analysis essay since this type of writing is easy(for me). Book reports is slightly hard since your need to read and understand deeply what the meaning and pointing of the book is. While in literary analysis you just simple analyzing what is the content and what do they point. correct me if i'm wrong?. but then great post you have your own idea between this two.
