Difference // Preference
When comparing a literary analysis with a book report, I discovered the main difference. A literary analysis is arguing what a book's meaning is and it also tackles the prompt, which can have multiple answers. On the other hand, a book report basically summarizes a book's plot and describes the characters and their involvement in the chapters. If we're all being honest, I prefer book reports because of their simplicity. Also, it's easier for me to further explain a book and place my opinion on it rather than arguing my point, because I personally think I'm not the most convincing person. Nevertheless, I hope to appreciate literary analyses in the near future!

Book reports are simpler than literary analysis essays. I chose them for that reason too. I agree with you completely.
