Faust Midas and Myself/ Liar Liar
In Faust Midas and Myself the beginning didn't make sense to me. So I looked Faust up and found out he was a scholar who was unsatisfied with what he had and made a deal with the devil. In this deal he sold his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures. Knowing that helps me to understand the lines in paragraph two quote "you could have it all, Everything at once. Everything you've seen, Everything you'll ever need, Everything you've ever had in fantasies."
For me at first I mixed up Midas and Minos. Both were kings in Greek mythology. But Minos was the king of Crete and had the minotaur in the labyrinth. Midas had the golden touch which plays well into the song. which talks about waking up and finding a golden man with a golden girl in a golden world. Of course both people Faust and Midas wished for greedy things. So this song Faust, Midas, and Myself is comparing the singer/writer to Faust and Midas who were very greedy.
Liar Liar was more familiar because I am more familiar with the story of the sirens, who would entice sailors with songs to ether crash there ship or come to the island and would be eaten. If we apply the siren story to the song Liar Liar it makes perfect sense.
